Travel + Leisure’s Take on Viking Cruises’ Brand New Ship, Viking Sea
You will not find a casino on this cruise ship. I repeat: You will not find a casino on this cruise ship. For some folks, that might be a turn off. But for many, it’s an enticement, and it is certainly an indication of the kind of tone the Viking Sea is trying to set. Quiet. Restrained. Calming.

5 Reasons to Sail the Viking Star, the World’s Newest Cruise Ship
It's not a stretch to call the launch of this ship the biggest news in cruising this year. Cruise Critic – Best New Ocean Ship & 5-star Rating - 2015
The international team of Cruise Critic editors selected Viking Ocean Cruises’ first oceangoing ship, Viking Star, as the Best New Ocean Ship and awarded it a 5-star rating, noting “the ship is so beautifully designed—with terrific al fresco restaurants, a beautiful pool area, a superb spa and the two-level Explorers’ observation lounge—that you'll be hard-pressed to go ashore.” Praising its “decorative touches” and “elegantly Nordic décor,” they added, “The general ambiance brings to mind a boutique hotel that emphasizes design but not at the expense of comfort.” They also highlighted the ship’s large open spaces and al fresco dining options, such as the cruise industry’s first two restaurants that “convert to open-air eateries with the push of a button.”

Berlitz #1 Ship - 2016
In its Cruising & Cruise Ships 2016 edition, Berlitz rated Viking Ocean Cruises’ Viking Star the highest in her category during her debut season.
The guidebook provides readers with unbiased information and exhaustive detail on all aspects of cruising. For the 2016 edition over 250 ships were put to the test, being evaluated on their facilities and standards relating to food, service, staff and hospitality. Now, in its 31st year of publication and considered by many to be the Bible of cruise ship guidebooks, a new leader in cruise ships carrying 751-2,000 guests has been declared: Viking Star.
